The engine of a manual blind is its operating chain. If the chain yields, stretches, or breaks, the best fabric in the world becomes useless.

Many professionals ask us daily about various parts of our catalog, including operating chains—both chains for roller blinds and those for other types of mechanisms. And it makes perfect sense. A quality clutch needs exact traction, and our Ø4.5mm ball chains are designed to fit seamlessly into the gears of both systems, preventing skipping and premature wear.

Below, we break down our component list so you know exactly which reference to order depending on your workshop’s volume or your clients’ demands.

1. The Three Types of Traction

Depending on the aesthetics and weight of the system, our catalog offers three main variants:

  • Continuous Chain (Ref. 688002): The undisputed industry standard. The beads feature a 6mm pitch (Ø4.5x6mm). It is made of POM (Polyoxymethylene), an engineering plastic that withstands sudden pulls without crystallizing, and is available in 6 colors to match bottom weights and brackets.

  • Discontinuous Chain (Ref. 689002): Shares the bead diameter and material (POM), but features a wider bead spacing (Ø4.5x12mm).

  • Metal Chain (Ref. 687001): The premium option. Made of chrome-plated material (Cr) with a 6mm pitch. It provides extra weight that keeps the chain perfectly taut and straight, ideal for heavy-duty roller blinds or high-end aesthetic installations.

2. Spools vs. Endless Chain Rings: Which format to choose?

To protect your workshop’s profitability, you must select the format that best fits your workflow:

  • Industrial Spools (For custom sizing): If you run your own workshop and adjust each system to the millimeter, you need rolls. We supply continuous chains in 200-meter spools, discontinuous chains in 250 meters, and metal chains in 125 meters.

  • Endless Chain Rings (For fast installations): If you want to skip the splicing process and eliminate potential weak points, we supply pre-closed loops (Rings). For example, Ref. 688202 is a 200cm continuous chain ring that provides an exact 1.00m drop (operating length). We stock pre-made rings covering drops from 1.00m up to 4.00m (Ref. 688802).

3. The Chain Connector: The Critical Link

If you choose to work with spools, the chain closure must be flawless. A poor-quality joint will jam when passing through the clutch mechanism. In our roller blind accessories section (page 29), we offer technical solutions to close the loop or create limit stops:

  • Structural Joints: We supply high-strength options such as the Capsule Joint (Ref. 310202, in PP) or the heavy-duty Castellon Joint (Ref. 685382, in PA).

  • Chain Stoppers: To prevent the user from unrolling the blind past the tube, the Chain Stopper (Ref. 310102) mechanically blocks passage through the control unit.

  • Professional Tooling: For those working with metal chain, we offer the specialized splicing tool (Ref. 687010), made of Zinc (Zn) and Metal (Met), ensuring a perfect closure without deforming the beads.

Whether you are repairing legacy systems or assembling from scratch, working with engineering technical plastic (POM) and precise hardware will save you from returning to the job site for an avoidable breakdown.
